Year 6’s Creative Partnership with Southeastern Railway to Encourage Green Travel
This year, our Year 6 pupils embraced an exciting opportunity to work with Southeastern Railway on a project encouraging environmentally friendly travel. As part of their campaign to promote train travel over car use, Southeastern Railway ran a workshop in November led by Margareta Hills and Katie Lees-Williams. The workshop inspired our pupils to design vibrant and thought-provoking posters showcasing the benefits of train travel for the environment.
The creativity and enthusiasm of our Year 6 pupils were evident throughout the project. Margareta and Katie were highly impressed by the children’s behaviour, dedication, and the exceptional quality of their artwork. Their feedback was so positive that Southeastern Railway is already planning to return for more workshops in the future—a true testament to the success of this collaboration.
Southeastern Railway kindly provided prizes for the best designs to recognise the pupils’ hard work. The top two prizes were £50 Waterstones vouchers, while four runners-up each received £30 vouchers. These rewards celebrated their efforts and reinforced the importance of making sustainable choices. All participants were also treated to a cupcake and a small flashlight, adding a lovely finishing touch to the event!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Southeastern Rail Network for supporting this initiative and for rewarding the children’s creativity and commitment to the environment. This collaboration has been a fantastic way to inspire our pupils to consider their role in protecting the planet while fostering a sense of community.
Well done, Year 6, on your brilliant work promoting greener travel options!
